Iconic Blue Robot Returns: Doraemon Sakura Fest Hits Causeway Bay

Beloved anime icon Doraemon makes a triumphant return to Hong Kong this April with a cherry blossom-themed pop-up at Hysan Place, celebrating the global success of the “100% Doraemon & Friends” world tour.

Following a high-profile journey across major Asian cities, the world-renowned exhibition is preparing for its final stop in Tokyo. However, local creative studio AllRightsReserved (ARR) has organized a homecoming detour to thank Hong Kong fans. From April 3 to 19, the “100% Doraemon Sakura Fest” will transform three floors of the Causeway Bay shopping landmark into a floral-themed sanctuary dedicated to the time-traveling robotic cat.

A Multidimensional Fan Experience

The festival is designed as a comprehensive journey through the Doraemon universe, utilizing different levels of Hysan Place to offer distinct activities:

  • Retail and Collectibles (G/F): Located at the Kai Chiu Road entrance, the ground floor serves as the primary retail hub. It features a wide array of vending machines, capsule toy stations, and exclusive lifestyle products.
  • The Doraemon Craft Zone (1/F): Creativity takes center stage on the first floor. Visitors can design custom fabric keychain tags by selecting embroidery patches of iconic secret gadgets or personalized characters. An on-site heat-press service allows for immediate assembly, while a themed photo booth captures the moment.
  • Interactive Game Zone (5/F): In the atrium, two physical game booths offer fans the chance to test their skills and win unique rewards in a high-energy environment.

Exclusive Merchandise and Rare Collectibles

The festival highlights a fusion of Hong Kong and Tokyo aesthetics. Highlighting the collection is a Sakura Doraemon plush keychain infused with a cherry blossom scent and a tactile “Rice Ball” plush that produces a crinkling sound when squeezed. Apparel fans can look forward to photochromic T-shirts that reveal hidden sakura patterns when exposed to sunlight.

For luxury collectors, the most anticipated item is a limited-edition bronze sculpture finished in rose gold and accented with Swarovski crystals. Strictly limited to 200 pieces worldwide, this HK$3,980 masterpiece represents the pinnacle of the collaboration’s craftsmanship.

Essential Access Information

Due to high demand, organizers have implemented a staggered entry system. Entry to the pop-up store between April 3 and April 12 requires mandatory pre-registration via Klook, starting at 11:00 AM on April 1.

For those unable to attend in person, a limited online pre-order window will open on the DDT Store website from 11:00 AM on March 31 through 11:00 PM on April 2. This digital window offers a final opportunity to secure the rare bronze sculptures and other festival exclusives before they hit the physical shelves.
